The Institute of Urbanism (Prof. Aglaée Degros) and the Institute of Architecture and Landscape (Prof. Klaus K. Loenhart) at TU Graz organise for the faculty of Architecture their annual "Graz Architecture Lectures", which is attended by students, from the youngest to the most experienced, as well as an audience of professionals. This year's event is called „Celebrating Collectivity!", and is designed to honor the courageous architects/theorists/urbanists/landscape architects/sociologists/artists who rely on the community to meet the challenges of our time.
The climate challenges that affect our environment cannot be tackled individually, but only collectively, and therefore it is time to come together! Since the pandemic, we have found it difficult to come together, we have retreated into the comfort of our own interests and routines. The Graz Architecture Lectures with the motto "Celebrating Collectivity!" is an invitation to step out of our comfort zone, to have the courage to face the challenges around us together.
It is time to give the spatial discipline back its social relevance by exchanging ideas with courageous designers, activists and thinkers from our disciplines. The topics will be serious: resources, uncertainty, ecology, social justice – but the discussion will be festive!
The Graz Architecture Lectures will take place on April 16 in the Halle, Kronesgasse 5. Under the motto "Celebrating Collectivity!", the faculty is bringing together renowned national and international guest lecturers. The event consists of 8 lectures:
1. Felipe De Ferrari (Plan Común), Paris
2. Lisa van der Slot (DeZwarteHond), Rotterdam
3. Matthias Marschner und Grisi Ganzer (Bellevue die Monaco), Munich
4. Judith Urschler, Thomas Kain (Studio Magic), Vienna/Graz
